Physical Education (P.E.)

At St. George the goal of Physical Education is to inspire children to develop active skills that help them have the confidence and desire to have life long interest in the pursuit of health and well-being.
 

Students learn to demonstrate sportsmanship and respect in Physical Education classes regardless of skill level or ability.
 

Modified games to introduce teamwork and eventually to introduce team strategy.

The overall environment provides a strong amount of positive acknowledgement when a student has a break though moment or personal best.

Physical Education (PE) is a graded class for grades K-8, focusing on individual effort, participation, skill development, sportsmanship, and adherence to class expectations and rules.
 

Each class will use the following rubric:

  • Meets Full Expectation: Students earn full points for meeting all class requirements.

  • Partial Points: Students making progress toward standards will receive partial points.

Effort and Participation

  • Fully and actively participates in warm-up, assignments and activities,

  • Demonstrates complete understanding of the rules, skills and strategies of the daily activity.

  • Always portrays a positive attitude in class: in words, posture and body
    ​

Sportsmanship

  • Consistently displays respectful behaviors towards all classmates and teacher.

  • Is always supportive of their classmates as they try their best.

Cooperation

  • Shows consistent active listening by following instructions/directions right away.

  • Shows consistent, positive contributions to the activity/discussion.

  • Keeps 100% focus on the activity at hand and avoids behind the scene talking that distracts from the activity.

Preparedness

  • Comes to class on time, ready to participate. (shoes, appropriate gym clothes)

  • Communicates attendance issues with the either in a timely manner.
