A Letter from the Pastoral Coordinator
Dear Families,
"Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return." We often hear these words from Genesis as ashes are being traced on our heads at the beginning of Lent. While this may seem morbid, it is good from time to time to remember the reality of our mortality. It reminds us that our lives are a gift from God and encourages us to be grateful for all that we have been given.
It also encourages us to take stock of how we are living that one precious life and gives us the opportunity, in cooperation with God, to make changes along the way.
This Wednesday we begin the 40-day Lenten season with the celebration of Ash Wednesday. During this season, there will be many opportunities to enter into the traditional Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
Take some time this week to set your intentions for Lent. Let’s commit to taking this journey together in community so that we can experience forgiveness, mercy, transformation, and renewal both individually and in our South Seattle Parish Family.

Stations of the Cross and Lenten Meals

All are invited to join us for weekly Stations of the Cross and Lenten Meals every Friday. We will pray the Stations of the Cross at 6pm in the Church and then share a Lenten, meatless meal in the Hall. Our four South Seattle Parishes will rotate hosting each week.
Join us this Friday, March 7 at St. Edward and the following Friday, March 14 at St. George. We provide guides to help you pray the Stations and reflect on the Passion of Jesus.
Experience Forgiveness this Lent

All are invited to our Lenten Reconciliation service on Wednesday, March 12 at 7pm at St. Edward.
Sin hurts our relationship with God, ourselves, and others. Reconciliation offers us the opportunity to confess the things for which we feel sorry, receive God’s loving forgiveness, be absolved of our sins, and commit to a new way moving forward.
As Catholics, we are encouraged by the Church to go to reconciliation at least once a year. If it’s been a while since you've gone, you may feel nervous. Know that we have many priests available who are understanding and supportive as well as guides to confession if you need them.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to bask in God’s unconditional love for you!
Middle School Encounter

All 6th-8th graders are invited to the Archdiocesan Middle School Encounter on Saturday, March 15 at Kennedy Catholic High School. We will be joining hundreds of Catholic youth from Western Washington for a day of prayer, games, community, talks, reflection, and Mass at the annual Middle School Encounter.
