Hay St. George! My name is Jade Adalbert. For those of you who don't know, I am in my last year here at St. George and am serving as your Student Council President. I am very ecstatic to be the leader of such a great group of students called the student council as well as the entire school as a whole! This year we have a lot of great new ideas such as having many dances and movie nights. And lets not forget how awesome Catholic Schools week will be! So as the President I want you to have a fun and great school year!
On September 27th, a number of St. George families gathered in the church parking lot following the 10:30 mass.
Those gathered
enjoyed a performance by the Filipino Youth Association (FYA) which included these members of our St. George community; Michael and
Jenifer Palomo and Kai Lobo. After the performance Mrs. Lenihan started the 2009 Jog-A-Thon. The crowd ran north along 13th Ave.
all the way up to Oregon Street where they turned left. The runners then turned left and ran down to 11th Ave. where they took
another left and headed to Maplewood Park. After rounding the park loop the runners headed back to St. George where there was plenty
of cheers, water, fruit and ICE CREAM for all!
Everyone had a great time being involved in the Jog-A-Thon and it raised more than
expected. This years Jog-A-Thon brought in over $21,000.00!!!!!!! Good Job and I can’t wait until next years Jog-A-Thon. Also a big
thank your to this year's sponsor, Seattle Mortgage. But for now ... Sell that cookie dough!
Most of you know that the 6th grade went to Camp Hamilton on September 22nd. They had an AWESOME time. Rock Climbing to Boating to
Hiking all over the forest! Camp Hamilton was a great experience for them. They learned all sorts of things at camp.
"My group caught a salamander!" exclaimed Caitlyn Jacquemart.
They experienced biffys too! "The biffys are horrible!" said Clarence Leuong.
Andrew and I interviewed people in the 6th grade with some questions about camp.
Q: What was your favorite place at camp?
A: "the forest" - Caitlyn Jacquemart.
Q: How many stars would you rate camp?
A: "5 stars" - Tony Le, "5 stars" - Jonathon Luong, "4 stars" - Austin Buza
The soccer season is heating up. We have four soccer teams competing and they are doing most excellent. Five students from each
of the teams had a few words to say about soccer.
AJ from the 7th grade, "We lost pretty badly in the last two games,
but if we try harder, we will win some of the games and have fun at the same time." Sole from the second grade, "It was fun and I had a great time,
I told my friend to pass the ball to me to score a goal. My mom brought the team cheez-its, crackers, strawberries, watermelon,
cherries, and water. The best part of soccer was when I threw the ball and I scored and the blue team lost. I hope next time it
doesn't rain!" Victor from the 1st grade, "It's fun, but really hard. We won one and lost two games. The second game was really
hard because it was turf and the ball would move really fast."
Well, there you go, all the updates! Keep it up St. George and Go Dragons!
But don't forget sign-up sheets for basketball are out!
Our new teacher Ms. Anderson is enjoying her time here at St. George School teaching the 6th, 7th & 8th grades. She even says,
"I think St. George is a welcoming community and I am so lucky to be here and to be a part of it."
She was born and raised in North Seattle. She went to Our Lady of the Lake from Kindergarten through 8th grade and then went to
Bishop Blanchet for her 4 years of high school. Then she went to the University of Washington and got her degree in English and

And she recently just got engaged!

We are looking for motivated students who are interested in writing for this newspaper! We need students to come up with ideas for articles, students who can interview other students and teachers, and students who are willing to write articles. Please contact Mr. Rittman if interested. We will meet every Wednesday at lunch recess. We will publish a newspaper once a month.
High School: I go to Bishop Blanchet High School
How do you like it: I love BBHS. I think the best part about my school is all the spirit. No one is afraid to dress up for spirit days or
participate in activities. Everyone goes all out.
Biggest Surprise so far: I think the biggest surprise for me has been how easy it was transitioning from middle school to high
school. The first couple days were kind of tough getting into the swing of things, especially going from class to class, but now
its like second-nature.
What do you miss most about St. George: One thing that I really miss about St. George is the people. Going to St. George for
9 years of my life, everyone there is like family, and its really weird to go to school and not see them everyday.
Advice to St. George students: A couple pieces of advice I would give to future high schoolers would be to not be nervous,
meet as many new people as possible and don't leave all your homework until Sunday!!
