About Your PTA

Every member of the St. George Community is a member of our PTA. We welcome your involvement and we NEED your help! PTA meets regularly at 5:30 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month in Mrs. Plehal's 4th grade classroom. Come and learn on how you can get involved!

Shopping Cart Fundraising

Raise money for St. George While Doing Your Everyday Shopping Scrip is Fundraising While you ShopTM Did you know you can raise money for our organization while doing your everyday shopping? All you have to do is purchase gift cards from America's favorite retailers and use them in place of cash, checks, or credit cards for purchases you were going to make anyway. Each card purchase carries an associated "contribution" of 2-15% or more.

Gift cards are available from over 300 national and local retailers. Groceries clothing, dining out, home improvement, even gasoline can all be purchased with Scrip. An organization of over 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars a year on these purchases. If they do the majority of this shopping with Scrip, they can raise as much as $40,000 to $80,000 per year for our organization - without spending and additional penny!

Make shopping count for St. George School! Contact Teresa Jensen for more information.

You can visit www.glscrip.com to read more about how GLscrip works.

If you can commit to a day, we would be so grateful. Sue Byrd may even reward you with a free bag of popcorn! Meeting Minutes
For Wednesday, November 18th | 5:30 p.m. | 4th grade

CARNIVAL FEEDBACK:

  • Leah: Parents were coming and just dropping off kids, we need to stress in flyer that kids MUST have chaperones, parents hanging out buy more food! We need to strictly enforce parents being with kids. Maybe parents need get free admission?
  • Food needs to be more basic and have kid appeal, go back to simple for ease of planning, purchasing.
  • Profit: $421 PTA snack stand, $1, 837 admissions (109 presale bands were sold)
  • Food from kitchen - we think profit was about $400, with $200 coming to PTA and $200 going to Church? Check with Grizelda about this. Kristen believes $70 was spent on prizes, there is one box of prizes left. In the future we may need to spend more money - Kristen bought and donated items.
  • Leah: We need to track attendance! Next year let's have a counter at the door.
  • Kristen would like to see better games, Russ and Ben would like to see Carnival expanded by inviting other schools - get carpet tiles cleaned up so gym could be included.
  • Hallway and Hall need to be set up during the school day, so no classes should be using those spaces the day of the carnival.

HOLIDAY BAZAAR:

  • Teresa Brown is chairing this, she has the original volunteer sign-up sheet
  • GOAL: raise $1,000 with breakfast, photos, tables rented, and raffle
  • Santa photos - Teresa will look into a photographer from K or 1st
  • Kristen will run kitchen, profits coming back to PTA biscuits and gravy with sausage, fresh fruit
  • Holiday wreaths can be picked up at bazaar
  • Raffle: who can procure items? Ideas: football, jersey ...
  • Tables will be $25 and they can be split/ hours are from 9 - 1, 12/6
  • Post date on Facebook for guests - ask Mike Rittman to do this
  • Post date on Craigslist for vendors - Teresa or Kristen?

CONCESSION STAND:

  • Can volunteers sign up for basketball season concession stand on website?
  • Stock: hot dogs, donuts, coffee, etc
  • PTA will not do concession stand during school hours
  • Spring Carnival Committee will need to be formed, Kristen and Russ are all over this!

Harvest Festival Update
Posted October 18, 2009 | by Kristin Agbalog

Hooray!!!! The Harvest Festival was a very successful event!! I want to thank all of you for a great job!! Everyone worked so hard and it paid off! We raised over $1100.00 after expenses for the PTA fund. This is $300 more than we brought in from the same event last year.

The second graders won the Pumpkin Carving contest and will receive an ice Cream party for their efforts. Joy Aquino won the teacher drawing and received a $25 Barnes and Nobel gift card.

Next event is the Halloween Carnival. Lets all start concentrating on that. Cindy will be heading this event. Remember this is really big and she can't do it herself. She will need a lot of help.

PTA will have a table to sell items, As of now, we will be selling; cotton candy, popcorn, dragon snot (slime) and maybe some stash bags. All ideas are welcome. BUT REMEMBER....... We don't want to pay much for these items. The object is to raise funds not spend them!

Keep those ideas coming!!
