Book Fair Profits $$
Posted April 15, 2010 | from Ms. Liz

A huge THANK YOU, to all of the fantastic volunteers, who helped at this year's book fair. March 7th through March 12th. We couldn't have done it without you.

This year we sold $3,453.00 in books and merchandise. This an increase of $259.00 from last year. Additionally, we collected $68.00 in the "One For Books" drive. I credit the increase in sales to Scholastic's willingness to send and additional case of books targeted to our middle school students. Thank you Scholastic!

We earned a bonus of $172.00 because our sales volume was over $3,000 and we were credited another $172 because we took our profit in books from the fair and resource catalogue materials.

So - St. George School was able to acquire $2500.00 in books and materials from this event, a big plus for our St. George students. Thank you to everyone who was able to participate!

See you next year!

Scholastic Book Fair
February 11, 2010 | by Liz Walsh-Boyd and Bernadette O'Leary

Please join us in sharing a love of reading with students at our Scholastic Book Fair scheduled for Monday, March 8th through Friday, March 12th 2010.

The Book Fair will be held in the St. George Library. We welcome families to stop by Monday (March 8th) through Friday (March 12th) during the school day and then again from 3:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Special Preview
The Book Fair will be open on Sunday, March 7th from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This gives our St. George Parish Families a chance to participate.

Your child will have the opportunity to attend the Book Fair during their regularly or specially scheduled library hour the week of March 8th.

Our Scholastic book fairs are successful in large part because of the volunteers who help with the set-up, sales and break down at this event. Please take a moment to review the Volunteer Sign Up sheet. Your help is much appreciated!

Thank you for encouraging your child to read! Look for the Scholastic Book List newsletter in the next communication envelope. This list will preview some of the books that will be available for purchase at our fair.

We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at the book fair.

St. George School Library

Dear Parents-

Thank you for your continuous support of the library! Please take the time to review the St. George Library Goals. Here you will find my thoughts on the activities and projects that need attention in the library. If there is anything on this list that looks appealing- let me know and we can get started.

There are a number of Catholic School Librarians that have offered to review this document and give me feedback- I hope you will do the same.

I also have a new contact that will introduce me to the internship coordinator at the UW School of Information so there may be some graduate students there that would like to head up one of these projects.

Finally, I will be putting together a job description for a Service Learning Position that would be available to 8th grade students who would like to contribute their time and talent to the library.

If you know of any other parents that would like to be involved-PLEASE pass this information on to them. The more help, the better.

Again, I appreciate you all and know that we can get some of this work done!

Ms. Liz
