CYO Sports and Other News
May 27, 2010 | By Sue Byrd

My Dear Family,

Last Saturday our CYO Track & Field teams were at Highline Stadium participating in the events of the Greater Seattle Championship meet. There were many other schools involved.

That evening, a little past 7:00 p.m., I heard a knock on my front door. I answered it, and on my front porch was Dawit & Aron Nuguse holding trophies. I walked out onto the porch and the smiles on their faces were priceless. On the steps was Coach Michael Rittman holding a big trophy and all I heard was “We won these Sue!” I just screamed with joy, WHAT? Momma Mia, it was one exciting time talking about the meet.

So what happened? Our 4th division girls team, with 3rd graders to fill in brought back a 1st place trophy. Our 5th division boys relay was burning up the track, bringing back a 1st place trophy too. Our 7th division boys did a beautiful relay on the last lap in third, and a surge of power came on and our runners came in 1st with a trophy.

What a show these kids put on. Our St. George was awarded the 2nd place Greater Seattle Overall trophy, lacking a few points after all events were added up. So what, this is a great accomplishment and the best CYO Track & Field season ever. God bless all of you.

My heartfelt thanks to Coach Rittman and all of his helpers for a great season. The meet was a long one, but with rewarding results.

The Monday morning assembly was a village of joy and the trophies are now in the front hall display case for all to admire. Golly, how wonderful! Great St. George spirit.

Our yearbooks will be here soon and orders are coming in. This is a wonderful keepsake, with pictures of all of the goings-on at St. George School and Parish. Order forms are on the back of this blog. Order yours today!

Again, a call for all sports uniforms. Please bring them to the office.

Love & God Bless,
Sue Byrd,
CYO Coordinator
