CYO Sports and Other News

To My Dear Family,

Momma Mia, Mother Nature has been juggling our weather into summer, spring and finally our winter, all in
a little over a week's time. Would you believe on Monday was a coolish day and I cleared the second lunch
playground because of a snow squawl, the kids were delighted (me too) but they all got into school. BRRRR - what a freaky
Winter season. Thank God we have not had weather like our sister states on the east coast are experiencing.
We have much to be thankful for.
Our volleyball teams are showing the results of their practices. Last Sunday our 8th division girls won two
from Our Lady of Fatima; 25-21, 25-23. Boy these were exciting games - keep up the great teamwork, getting
the ball over the net with St. George spirit.
Our 5th division girls are a polished group that serve the ball expertly over the net with height and vigor.
If you decided to stand in line at the concession stand during the game, you would have missed it. The entire
match lasted 20 minutes. The point count is 15 and the server serves three consecutive points and then
rotates. You've got to see it to believe it! Yes, they got another big win.
The 8th division boys and 7th division girls had a bye.
March 13th games are as follows:
- 7th Division Girls - 12:00 pm playing St. Philomena at St. George Miracle Gym
- 5th Division Girls - 3:00 pm playing St. Anthony at St. Anthony (336 Shattuck Ave S, Renton)
- 8th Division Boys - 6:00 pm playing St. Louise (W) at St. George Miracle Gym
- 8th Division Girls - bye
March 14th games are as follows:
- 7th Division Girls - 1:00 pm playing St. Louise at St. George Miracle Gym
- 5th Division Girls - 4:00 pm playing St. Joseph at St. George Miracle Gym
- 8th Division Boys - 6:00 pm playing Holy Rosary (W) at St. George Miracle Gym
- 8th Division Girls - 4:00 pm playing St. Louise at St. Luke gym (322 N 175th, Shoreline)
You have a great choice of games to attend this week to cheer on these great athletes.
Thanks to all of our volleyball coaches, Amy, Rosa, Monica, Jan and Alex. Your talents are showing in the
way your teams are playing.
Track & Field sign ups will be in the classrooms. As with volleyball, there will be a CYO participation
fee. Michael Rittman will be coaching again this year, but will need help. If you are in need of service hours,
this is a good chance to make them up.
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO RETURN ALL BASKETBALL UNIFORMS TO THE OFFICE.
Love and God Bless,
Sue Byrd, CYO Coordinator
