CYO Sports and Other News
FEBRUARY 25, 2010 | By Sue Byrd
To My Dear Family,

Momma Mia, with the Olympics and the CYO volleyball season starting, there is just so much sports
excitement.
We have four teams this volleyball season. There are three girls teams; 5th, 7th and 8th grades, and one
8th grade boys team.
As per usual, there are events our kids can join outside of CYO and it surely makes a difference when practice
and game times come up. One or the other suffers. We almost lost our 6th/7th division girls team, which resulted
in a cancellation of their first game due to lack of players. To our rescue were two sixth graders who joined
to make the 6th/7th team able to fulfill the rest of the season. Thank you so much Ian and Monica. I was very
close to making the decision to cancel the whole team, but prayers and waiting made the team a go!
Our 8th division girls had a shortage of players at their first game here at the St. George Miracle Gym. Only six
players of the ten on the team showed up. They did a wonderful job, showing the spirit of St. George. Special
thanks to Mrs. Rosa Webber (Misha and Vinya's mom) and Nia and Tina Camilon for coaching the girls at the game.
Sacred Heart won the game, 23-25 and 24-26, but our girls put out spectacular effort. What a team!
Our 5th division girls played their first CYO game and came out with the big W. I am still amazed at the game I
witnessed.=, 15-10, 15-3. Keep your eyes on this up and coming team.
The 8th division boys overtook their opponent in two games.
All players, please show up at all of your practice and games, all members are needed to make the team a winning
concern.
The next games are Saturday, February 27, 2010:
- 5th Division Girls - 3:00 pm playing St. Vincent at St. George Miracle Gym
- 7th Division Girls - 10:00 am playing St. Francis at St. George Miracle Gym
- 8th Division Girls - 1:00 pm playing Christ the King/St. Benedict at St. George Miracle Gym
- 8th Division Boys - 12:00 pm playing St. Catherine at Immaculate Conception,
Everett (2508 Hoyt Ave, Everett)
Let's cheer these kids on to victory!
Remember all in your prayers!
Love and God Bless,
Sue Byrd, CYO Coordinator
